![]() ![]() You removed my mask to let me see the sun. You helped me craft the greatest weapon of all time and didn't even make me wait for it. You were the faceless scarecrow, always appearing with my desire, never forsaking me who called you to aid. ![]() You were the spyglass that let me peer into the unknown, the hook that stopped the devouring worm, the song that returned me to my youth. Wandering corpses moaned and screeched, grasping hands reached for my throat as they filled my ears with paralyzing terror. I wandered twisted corridors, traipsed over endless fields, fell into wicked traps filled with rocks and spikes and electric jellyfish. Every hour was a weight on both mind and heart, and I could feel my time in this world slipping away. It's a game that I thought I would love to just dig right into, and imagine yourself just amassing this encyclopedic knowledge, but after awhile you realize "oh shit", that's never going to happen without months, if not years, of pure dedication to a single game, that's why the best guides for those kinds of games are most often written by people who have very few other guides, because they've immersed themselves in a single one for so long. The most difficult game to do a guide for was Oblivion, without a doubt. F-Zero GX and Ninja Gaiden are good examples too, because those games are fucking hard, and after beating both on the hardest difficulties, it was good to have an outlet to share what I'd learned. I waited quite a while to do a guide for it because I knew I was going to have to dedicate a ton of time to it to get everything down, but I'd played the game through so many times that it was just a matter of getting it out of my head and into print. A good example is Star Ocean: The Second Story, which was and still is my favourite game. My favourite guides to do were the ones where I really knew the game backward and forward, inside and out, especially if it was a really difficult game that I knew people really needed help with. You can find out more here:Įdit: I should note that aside from a nostalgia project doing Dark Souls a few months ago, I don't actively write guides anymore and haven't for about 5 years. Authors have been spending a lot of time in the last few years working to provide guides for every last game out there for some systems, no matter how terrible or unplayable they may be. You might also be interested in the "completion projects" that still go on to this day. I encourage everyone to let them know, whenever they get the chance! There are too many great authors that have contributed to GameFAQs over the years and still do, any of them that provide email addresses in their guides, if they're anything like me, always appreciate the positive feedback they get. I'd also just like to acknowledge just how many FAQ authors out there that have done essentially the same thing I have, in many cases even better, but have received less recognition whether it be for writing for the lesser known games, having their guide organized lower on the page, or any other reason. It's been a long time but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. I know a lot of people had questions about the process, the community, about me, about whatever.
